Dr Sarah Jane Karabus, Subspecialist Paediatric Allergologist

Dr. Sarah Karabus is an allergy, asthma, immunology specialist. She joined our Private Practice OIT Allergists Network in February 2017. She connected with Dr. Ruchir Agrawal to learn the finer details of OIT. We are honored to have her and her patients join us in our family and physician support groups.

Dr. Karabus maintains the position of consultant and senior lecturer In Allergology in the Department of Allergy at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital and University of Cape Town, while running a multi-disciplinary Allergology practice at the Chest and Allergy Centre at Netcare Christiaan Barnard Memorial Hospital in Cape Town.

Dr. Karabus graduated from the University of Cape Town Medical School in 1999. She worked in paediatrics in the United Kingdom and passed the membership examination of the Royal College of Paediatrics in 2004. She returned to Cape Town to specialise as a Paediatrician at the Red Cross Children’s War Memorial Hospital.

Thereafter, she completed further sub-specialist postgraduate training in Allergology in the Division of Allergy and Asthma at UCT, obtaining the Diploma of Allergology in 2008.
She is registered with the Health Professional Council of South Africa as a sub-specialist paediatric allergologist.

She has published several articles in accredited medical journals, presents regularly at national and international allergy conferences and has contributed to a number of chapters in the Allergy Society of South Africa Handbook of Allergy.
